Thanks to Yves, a member of the association, retired from EDF we were lucky to receive a donation which helped us install about twenty solar panels on the roof of the Bloom workshop in Cochin, south of India.
Thanks to this installation, the workshop doesn’t need any other source of electricity, the solar energy provides for the sewing machines, the lights, fans and all electrical devices.
This is most useful as in Kerala, power cuts are very frequent and can go on for several hours. Power happens to be missing during the monsoon, rains are not important enough to provide energy for the dams.
For the association, it is a very important help in harmony with our will to save energy and be closer to the environment. The workshop was built in that spirit, using earth rather than concrete, and investing in natural materials.
We pay great attention to the recycling of waste, in the workshop we recycle all the little bits of material so as to make patchworks and all the bits of papers to make bags and envelops.
We will go on developing that awareness, so we’ll set up all possible new projects in connection with ecological solutions.
The association is very grateful for that beautiful present, and we want, most warmly, to thank the foundation for its help and advice on that project, as well as the Indian firm Voltex for setting up the solar panels.
